House Renovation

Our Projects

This project involved the renovation of the main roof on a property. The restoration began with the removal of the old slates, battens, and bituminous felt. This was followed by the alignment of the rafters. We then installed Loft Roll 44 insulation. This is a flexible low density glass mineral wool quilt which is lightweight, flexible, resilient and non-combustible. It combines thermal, acoustic and fire performance. It’s odourless, rot proof, non-hygroscopic, does not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria. We did several render repairs to all parapet walls and some of the chimneys. We then laid a breathable membrane, followed by an eaves protection strip and JB-RED® fully pre-graded battens.

After this, we laid out Thrutone® Fibre Cement artificial slate. Artificial slate offers the attractive appearance of genuine slate, but has many advantages over it – fibre cement is a low cost 100% recyclable building material and does not require wet cutting under COSHH. We then set up a Uni-Vent Rapid Ridge System® to ensure waterproof and long-lasting fixing for the ridge and hip tiles. Once the tiling was completed, lead work was carried out as appropriate. Finally, we fitted RWG - deep flow gutters and down pipes.
